Sexual Abuse Awareness Training for Vulnerable Adults Programs
Staff members and volunteers who work with Vulnerable Adults must have an awareness and appreciation of the unique challenges associated with serving vulnerable populations. This Training addresses the following topics:
- Sexual abuse risk
- Why the risk is greater for individuals with disabilities
- Sexual Abuse and the abuser’s grooming process
- Signs of abuse
- Reporting abuse and overcoming reporting obstacles
- Sexual behavior and boundaries
There is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ disability and no ‘one-size-fits-all’ disability program. Nonetheless, Sexual Abuse Awareness Training provides information and instruction useful across the waterfront of intellectual, developmental and physiological disabilities served by Vulnerable Adult programs. Program administrators are invited to use this Training as a starting point for more population-specific or program-specific instruction.
